Alfons Gallery/School Sisters of St. Francis, Milwaukee, WI

Exhibition space essential to the arts outreach mission of the School Sisters.  

      Gallery Director/Curator and Curator of Collections    2012 – present

  • As Director/Curator – Oversee all administrative and planning aspects of the Gallery, including marketing/branding and overseeing volunteers.  Initially, adjusted the mission then planned the yearly exhibition schedule following it.  Curated solo shows and group invitational exhibitions, including layout of work. 

  • Internship Program – Created program and worked with students with behind-the-scenes gallery and art archives work. 

  • Residency Program – Created program connecting artists with students. 

  • Special Events – Planned and implemented outreach events. 

  • As Curator of Collections – Oversee both Collections of artwork owned by this international organization (Province Collection and International/Generalate Collections housed in five art archives spaces as well as displayed in corridors and offices in all six buildings associated with the organization in the Milwaukee area, including the international and province headquarters on the Milwaukee campus).

  • Strategic planning - Researched and created informational packet for strategic planning

sessions with community representatives, and oversaw brainstorming work with volunteers.  Worked with Director and Advisory Board to reviewing and implement plans.

  • Devised fund development goals, wrote government and foundation grants and individual request letters, set up membership program, and planned and implemented fundraising events.

  • Coordinated installations and performances. 

  • Worked as liaison between east-coast curator and board president.  Scheduled monthly exhibitions, set and met deadlines for all publicity, and worked closely with exhibiting artists.

  • Within various positions – Worked both independently and collaboratively to implement all aspects of membership; create and distribute publicity materials; plan and implement all aspects of exhibitions, including creation of prospectus, contact of national judges, coordination of volunteers, set-up for drop-off/pick-up of artwork, and art installation; wrote grants; create (pulled together information about events, opportunities and members) and distribute monthly newsletter; direct board meetings and committee work; and network with area artists and arts organizations as WVA representative.
